U.S. dentists may prescribe Periogenix™ to protect surgical wounds for a large number of oral surgical procedures such as post-operative wound management for the 1.1 million periodontal surgical procedures, 334,000 surgical apicoectomies, 2 million surgical placements of dental implants, 46 million tooth extractions, 9.1 million surgical removals of bony impacted teeth, or 362,000 surgical excisions of soft tissue lesions (American Dental Association 2005-06 Survey of Dental Services Rendered). OroScience will support all regulatory, clinical, sales and marketing related to the Microcyn-based professional oral care products with the first product launch anticipated in 2010. The initial products will only require FDA 510(k) clearances.
